Today I bring you a classic from 1965, WAR GODS FROM THE DEEP based on the poem written by Edgar Allen Poe titled CITY IN
THE SEA. Now I am a big fan of Poe and Vincent Price. So this is a double treat for me. Starring as the villian is Vincent
Pricce.
The story is about a woman kidnapped by strange Mer-Men creatures and taken via an underground tunnel linked to her house
via a secret passage. Her boyfriend, his friend and their pet chicken follow the monster kidnappers to a strange city under
the sea. (Get it), where they meet the Captain, a strange man who built the city and controls the Mer-Men. He was the one
who order her adbuction becasue she resembles his wife who died centuries ago.
Now the creature effects are pretty weak, even for the 1960s' and I don't think Poe invisioned a Chicken running around
his city in the sea. But what makes this a true buried treasure is Vincent Price, he makes the film work. Even a silly film
like this one, Vincent reading CITY IN THE SEA makes it worth watching over and over again and what makes it a true BURIED
TREASURE. Check it out, WAR GODS OF THE DEEP.
